Welcome to the studio and showcase of jeweler / metal smith Brian Bishop. Brian has been designing and hand crafting fine gold jewelry for over 30 years on his home, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.

Crucian is a name describing anything from St. Croix. Being a native Crucian, the designer proudly named his establishment Crucian Gold. His work has always paid tribute to the beauty and history of the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean, specializing in the art of knot tying that he learned as a professional diver and sailor.

Llewellyn Westerman

was born on the island of Nevis in the British Leeward Islands. He first came to St. Croix aboard the cargo ship The New Idea, then a second time aboard Endeavor. He did not have to pay fare, because, as he explains, "...they knew me from around the water."
Llew Westerman says, “Sailing is in my blood. My father and his brother, and my grandfather, were all sailors. My father was very good at reciting limericks too. He had a great sense of humor. Growing up in Nevis, we were always singing in school. I just kept on singing.”
In 1960, Westerman moved to St. Croix. Two weeks after he arrived, he was standing on the dock in Christiansted watching a native sloop sailing out. “I said to the captain later, 'I'm going to sail that boat', and I did, doing day charters over to Buck Island,” he recalls. Westerman continues his Buck Island charters today on his Crucian-built Mongoose 37 trimaran, Charis
