Is it a real online college degree just cause you find their website on the net? NO

How do you know if you are getting what you pay for, a real degree from a real institution? - A regionally accredited college will generally fully accept all your credit in transfer by other regionally accredited colleges. Credits and degrees earned at non-regionally accredited universities are not commonly accepted in transfer by regionally accredited institutions.

Council for Higher Education is the agency that oversees legitimate accrediting agencies. CHEA maintains a directory of recognized accrediting agencies online.

Other Types of Widely Recognized Institutional Accreditation

The Distance Education & Training Council (DETC) is a nationally recognized accreditation agency for colleges and schools that specialize in distance learning. The DETC, founded more than 75 years ago, accredits more than 70 home study institutions.

The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges & Schools (ACICS) is another widely recognized institutional accrediting agency.

Careers regulated by state licensing may require degrees that carry special programmatic accreditation.

• The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools Business International (AACSB) most prestigious type of business school accreditation.
• "STATE APPROVED" schools for private training and trade schools have a state approval process that means they have a license to do business but it is not the same as accreditation. "State Approved" distance learning college degrees from unaccredited universities are not widely accepted in the academic world and may not be accepted for transfer or admission at regionally accredited colleges.

AT LEAST ONE ONLINE SCHOOL has applied for full academic accreditation in a move that, if successful, could help give additional credibility to this nascent form of education.
zdnet article International University, which bills itself as "The University of the Web," is based in Englewood, Colorado, and is a "cyberschool" with no traditional campus. Spokesperson Shannon Geary claims that International is the first "Internet-based school to receive candidacy for accreditation" from The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). NCA is the same outfit that grants accreditation to regular bricks and mortar schools like the University of Colorado.
Candidacy for accreditation means that the school is being seriously considered for accreditation, not that International will actually get accredited. Geary explained that there's a one-year examination process, during which "they determine if the school has high standards and meets the standards of other schools." At the end of that period, if International passes, its degrees would theoretically carry the same weight as one from any other university. Geary noted that "many schools have campus based programs that have already been given accreditation, which they then place on the Internet. International University is certainly setting the precedence for Web based education."
Founded by cable television entrepreneur Glenn Jones (the founder of Jones International - which includes Knowledge TV), International University offers B.A. and M.A. degrees in Business Communication. You can enroll online. Tuition is $600 for a three credit course at the Bachelors Level and $700 for Masters courses. There's also a $75 admission fee. Faculty and content experts are drawn from places like the University of Illinois, University of Texas at Austin, University of Oklahoma, University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Denver; Depauw University, University of California at Santa Barbara, and Michigan State University.
Geary said that "The school has been up and running since Spring of 1995...and started the (accreditation) review process in October 1996." Geary said that its first student graduated this past Spring and that over the past two years, International University has had "over 600 students and over 60 BA and MA degree-seeking students."
