The Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC) program is applicable to all public and/or governmental organizations and agencies. The program offers two designations, a Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) and a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB).
Professional certification is a great investment. It will pay dividends for both yourself and your agency. Having a CPPO or CPPB certificate on your wall speaks volumes about your professionalism and credibility. It's like having a professional engineer on staff. Also, recent studies have shown that certified professionals have higher earning capacity. More agencies are offering increased pay to certified buyers and the higher level positions often go to CPPB and CPPO holders.
